A curated selection of six bottles of fizz so you can be a decorous host or a generous guest. Soirée season is never really over so it pays to have a stash to call upon when plans are made last minute. 
 

1. Françoise Martinot Bistrøtage B17 Pinot Noir NV, Champagne, France 
A beautiful Blanc de Noirs made by Charles Dufour from fruit sourced from his mother's vineyards. The Bistrøtage range is known for it's lengthy ageing before release, creating wines with a great tension between powerful flavours and great energy. Think warm stone fruit, brioche and dried herbs.

2. Lapo Berti Rosato Frizzante Nebbiolo NV, Piedmont, Italy 
A fun expression of Nebbiolo made in a Frizzante style by top grower in La Morra, Lapo Berti. This is showcasing notes of redcurrant, rose petal and savoury cedar. 

3. Domaine du Gringet, Les Perles du Mont Blanc Gringet 2019, Savoie, France
An incredibly rare sparkling made with the local alpine variety Gringet still vinified by the late Dominique Belluard. Beautiful citrus zest, fresh cream and scrubbed herbs are lifted by an elegant mousse and mouthwatering intensity.

4. Phelan Farm Bottle Baby Mondeuse NV, California, USA
Not your usual sparkling option, but certainly one of the most interesting bottles we came across this year. This is made by the famous Rajat Parr in his new regenerative venture in San Luis Obispo. Bottle baby is made by a blend of organically farmed apples and Mondeuse grapes grown on the estate, which are co-fermented and aged in old wood. This is certainly more vinous than you would expect, showcasing notes of fresh blueberries, scrubbed herb alongside a savoury, salty edge. 

5. François de Nicolay Pétillant BulleDog Aligoté NV, Burgundy, France
The wines by François never disappointed. This delicious Pétillant is made with Aligoté sourced from the Macônnais and combines beautiful notes of green apple skin, lemon peel and herbaceous tones. Long and refreshing on the finish.
