As the nights slowly creep closer, and leaves turn in colour, it's harvest time in the vineyards. Here we offer a selection of bottles whose colours perfectly encapsulate this time of year.

1. Longaric 'Nostrale' 2023,  Sicily, Italy
The minds behind Longarico wanted to focus on Cataratto - the grape they believe best represents the island. Here the grape shows off a mineral depth, but also notes of pineapple and chamomile. Time spent on lees ensures the freshness is balanced with a rounded body for this textural treat.

2. Domaine Myrsini 'Fotinos' 2023,  Paros, Greece
A real taste of the Mediterranean, with a fresh sea breeze and scrubbed herbs. Monemvassia from the Cycladic Islands of Greece, this wine has a pleasing beeswax note, with fleshy fruit. Time spent in concrete brings a warming roundness that brings this wine together.

3. Vins et Volailles 'Amazones' 2021,  Franken, Germany
Vins et Volailles is a project which brings together different wine makers under one united vision for a better world. Here from 2Naturkinder in Germany we have a blend of red and white grapes for a rosato of sorts. Spatburgunder, Silvaner and Regent combine for this tangy, peppery wine with depth of fruit.

4. Guillaume Noire 'SaGaGn' 2022,  Loire, France
Is it a Rosé or is it an Orange? Well, a Rosé, kind of. Sauvignon Blanc meets Gamay and Grolleau Noir. The white grapes see no skin contact, and then meet the red grapes which do see some skin contact. This results in a wine with a whole load going on - think orchard fruits, sandalwood, a bit of spice and some nice grip to hold it all together.

5. Meinklang 'Roter Mulatschak' 2024, Burgenland, Austria
The definiton of chillable. With bright cherry flavours on the nose that continue into the mouth, and just enough herbaceous notes to carry it through. Whole bunch goodness that's smooth and oh so drinkable.

6. Vincent Ruiz 'Les Noces Alchimiques' 2021, Ardéche, France
A red full of Southern charm. Here the Grenache grapes are from old bush vines, and when harvested they see a carbonic maceration. The resulting wine is full of ripe flavours of red currant, cola and scrubbed herbs with a backbone of earthiness.
