Tis the season for fizz, and we bring you four of our favourites, for toasting each and every occasion. From Pet-Nat to Prosecco, and an elite Champagne, there is something for every glass.
1. Château Lafitte Funambule 2023, Jurançon, France
Pet-Nat at it's absolute best, this could fool even the most canny into thinking it was Champagne. A region which is growing in popularity, we have Gros Manseng given time on lees, developing layered brioche and honey notes with a tropical nose.
2. Guillaume Noire ChSa Pet-Nat 2024, Loire, France
Guillaume's wines are an ode to his passion for environmental movements. This fresh pet nat brings Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc together in perfect harmony. Notes of elderflower and fresh cut grass enliven a fine and playful bottle.
3. Monban Spumante Extra Brut NV, Veneto, Italy
From the heartland of Prosecco, but with with an added layer. This means longer aging and added complexity. There's a lively mousse and bright citrus alongside green orchard fruits. Matteo makes wines that speak of the place, and in turn with this he is replanting trees and old grape varieties.
4. Françoise Martinot Bistrøtage B19, Champagne, France
Champagne like this is a real find. Blanc de Noir Pinot Noir from 2019, and since then it has seen some real time aging on lees. Gastronomic and textural, this is a bubbles of the highest order, it is rich and rounded with a depth that keeps on giving.
